Strengthening Village Information Governance: PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk Partners with Indonesian Journalists Association in Kolaka to Promote Media Literacy Among Village Officials

Kolaka, December 23, 2025 ¡ª As digital transformation accelerates to the village level, the challenge of managing information has become increasingly critical. The rapid and massive flow of unverified information can lead to misunderstandings, erode public trust, and hinder the effectiveness of village governance. This situation calls for enhanced capacity among village officials to act as guardians of accurate, ethical, and responsible information.

Aligned with Kolaka Regency¡¯s agenda to strengthen village governance, ensure transparency in public services, and build social resilience in the digital era, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½)¡ªpart of the MIND ID group¡ªhas partnered with the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Kolaka Chapter to launch the ¡°Media Literacy Awareness¡± campaign for village officials across Kolaka Regency.

This program responds to real needs on the ground, where village officials are not only tasked with administrative duties but also serve as key sources of information for their communities. With adequate media literacy, villages can prevent the spread of hoaxes, manage issues constructively, and foster transparent and accountable public communication¡ªsupporting Kolaka¡¯s vision of villages as the foundation of sustainable development.

Through this collaboration, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and PWI Kolaka aim to strengthen the capacity of village officials to navigate public communication dynamics confidently and professionally, while reinforcing synergy between village governments, media, and the community.

Program activities include:

  • Media Literacy Training: Enhancing skills to filter information, identify hoaxes, and use social media responsibly.
  • Public Communication Workshop: Building the ability to deliver clear, transparent, and accountable information to the public.
  • Interactive Discussions: Exploring the strategic role of media and village governments in fostering and maintaining public trust.

As part of a long-term commitment to creating a healthy communication ecosystem at the village level, the program also includes the signing of an Assistance and Press Complaint Agreement between PWI Kolaka and village officials across the regency. This agreement provides an official support channel for villages facing media-related issues and ensures complaint mechanisms follow proper procedures and journalistic ethics.

PWI Kolaka Chairman Abdul Saban expressed his appreciation for the collaboration:
¡°This synergy not only strengthens the capacity of village officials but also represents a concrete step toward creating a more informed society,¡± he said.

Support for this initiative also came from the Press Council, emphasizing that media literacy is a cornerstone of democracy and sound governance: ¡°Media literacy is fundamental to safeguarding the quality of democracy. We fully support PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and PWI Kolaka¡¯s efforts because the more people understand journalistic ethics, the lower the risk of misinformation. The Press Council protects public rights¡ªnot just journalists. If there is an ethical violation by the media, the public has the right to report it to us,¡± a representative stated.

On a national scale, the Press Council recorded over 1,600 complaints of alleged journalistic ethics violations in 2025, with around 70% of reports coming from the general public. This data underscores the urgent need for media literacy so communities¡ªincluding village officials¡ªunderstand their rights and complaint mechanisms correctly.

As part of MIND ID, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ remains committed to supporting sustainable development through community empowerment and human resource development programs. This media literacy collaboration reinforces PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s role as a strategic partner to local governments in strengthening village governance, building public trust, and creating a resilient, well-informed Kolaka community ready to face future challenges.
