Advancing Sustainable Food Security: PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½-Supported Farmers Harvest Feed Corn in Tondowolio

Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi, January 8, 2026 ¡ª PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½), part of Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND ID), continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment through its Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM) in operational areas. A tangible result of this commitment is the successful harvest of feed corn by PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½-supported farmers in Tondowolio Village, Kolaka Regency.

The harvest, carried out by the Padaidi Farmers Group in Tondowolio Village, Tanggetada District, marks a significant step in boosting local agricultural productivity and strengthening community-based food security. This program is designed to promote farmers¡¯ economic independence through sustainable agriculture, leveraging untapped local potential.

This achievement also reflects the transformation of idle land into productive farmland. Land that had been unused for years now generates economic value for the community, thanks to continuous support and collaboration between the company, village authorities, and local farmer groups.

Tondowolio Village Head, Asmanuddin, explained that the farmland currently managed by the Padaidi Farmers Group was initially opened in 2015 with an area of about 27 hectares but was later abandoned.

"Thankfully, since last year, this land¡¯s potential has been revitalized. Of the total 27 hectares spread across four hamlets, about 5 hectares have been planted with feed corn. Today¡¯s harvest is proof of the revival of farmer group-based agriculture in our village," he said.

Meanwhile, Baharuddin, Chairman of the Padaidi Farmers Group, shared that the harvest shows promising productivity¡ªaround 6 to 7 tons per hectare. Formed in November 2023, the group consists of 22 members and continues to expand its planting area.

"In addition to good yields, feed corn prices in Kolaka are quite competitive, ranging from IDR 5,000 to IDR 6,000 per kilogram. This is a strong motivation for us to keep developing sustainable agriculture," he added.

Endra Kusuma, Head of External Regional and Growth at PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, emphasized that this success is part of PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s PPM implementation, focusing on strengthening the economic capacity of communities around its operational areas.

"This program is a concrete manifestation of PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s support for empowering farmers by utilizing local potential. We believe that community economic independence is a critical foundation for sustainable development," Endra stated.

He added that PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ remains committed to working closely with village governments and community groups to develop agriculture as a pillar of local economic resilience, aligned with the company¡¯s principles of sustainability and inclusivity.

Through the PPM program under PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk¡¯s IGP Pomalaa project, the company aims to create long-term impacts for communities¡ªnot only by improving agricultural productivity but also by revitalizing idle land as a new economic resource. Multi-stakeholder collaboration is key to achieving inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development in Kolaka.
