MIND ID Director Commends PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s Nickel Downstream Project Management in Pomalaa as HPAL Progress Accelerates

Pomalaa, January 2, 2025 ¡ª PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½) continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to sustainable development of Indonesia¡¯s nickel downstream industry through disciplined, measured, and long-term governance practices at the Indonesia Growth Project (IGP) in Pomalaa. During an on-site visit to the Indonesia Pomalaa Industrial Park (IPIP), the Director of Downstream Strategy and Minerals at Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND ID) praised PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s tangible progress in building its downstream facilities, as well as the company¡¯s prudent approach to managing this national strategic project in alignment with safety, environmental protection, and investment continuity principles.

The visit included inspections of the Kolaka Nickel Indonesia (KNI) port and the construction site of the High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) plant in Pomalaa. Key facilities and supporting infrastructure are already in place, including initial process structures, utility systems, and integrated logistics connected to the port. These milestones reflect the project¡¯s technical readiness to advance to the next development phase responsibly.

Tedy Badrujaman, MIND ID¡¯s Director of Downstream Strategy and Minerals, expressed appreciation for the accelerated progress of PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s HPAL facility, noting significant achievements within a relatively short timeframe. ¡°I¡¯m quite impressed by the development of the HPAL plant. A few months ago, progress was minimal, but now several major components are already installed. In less than a year, the project is nearly halfway complete,¡± said Tedy.

He emphasized the strategic importance of PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s HPAL project in optimizing the use of limonite nickel ore, which has historically been underutilized. From equipment readiness to the quality of partnerships, the project reflects well-structured and comprehensive planning. ¡°PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has substantial nickel reserves, especially limonite. From what I¡¯ve seen, the preparation in terms of equipment and partners is excellent. I¡¯m confident this project will be completed on target,¡± he added.

Beyond physical progress, Tedy also commended PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s consistency in applying good mining practices and strict compliance with regulations. The company¡¯s cautious approach, including measured administrative processes, was recognized as a hallmark of strong and responsible governance. ¡°PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is known for its commitment to good mining practices. Its adherence to regulations, including halting activities when permits are incomplete, is a commendable demonstration of responsibility,¡± he noted.

The Pomalaa downstream project represents a long-term strategic investment designed to create national added value, strengthen the nickel-based industrial supply chain, and drive sustainable economic growth at both regional and national levels. Every stage of development is aligned with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and international safety and governance standards.

Looking ahead, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ remains committed to balancing project acceleration, regulatory compliance, and disciplined risk management as part of its mission to build a globally competitive and sustainable nickel industry in Indonesia.
