Sustainable Recovery: Protecting Lake Towuti¡¯s Ecosystem through Water Quality Testing by PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½

Towuti, 10 September 2025 ¡ª Recovery efforts following the oil pipeline incident in Towuti District, East Luwu Regency, continue with a strong emphasis on scientific rigor and collaboration. As the response enters day 19, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½) has intensified its focus on ensuring that water quality in Lake Towuti remains protected.

To reinforce this commitment, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ engaged a team of three environmental specialists from HAS Environmental on Wednesday (10 September 2025) to conduct comprehensive water quality monitoring across the Lake Towuti area. Water sampling was carried out using validated scientific methodologies and modern testing equipment, ensuring that the results are accurate, reliable, and defensible.

Sampling activities began in the dock and jetty areas, proceeded toward the central zone of the lake, and extended to locations near the river estuary. The monitoring program concluded with sampling from community water storage tanks, allowing for verification of the water sources used directly by Towuti residents.

The entire sampling process was led by Tri Wisnu Febrianto, Environmental Specialist at HAS Environmental, who ensured that all procedures complied fully with established technical and scientific standards.

¡°We apply validated scientific methods and modern equipment to ensure that the data we collect are accurate and accountable. By covering a wide range of locations, these monitoring results will serve as a critical reference in ensuring that water remains safe for both the environment and local communities,¡± Tri Wisnu Febrianto explained on Wednesday (10 September 2025).

Parallel to aquatic monitoring activities, land?based recovery efforts have also continued without interruption. At Point 7, volunteers working alongside four members of the Batara Guru Rescue Search and Rescue team from Malili have remained on site over the past two weeks, maintaining active support for cleanup operations in affected areas from morning through late afternoon.

Endra Kusuma, Head of External Relations at PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, stated that these actions reflect the company¡¯s commitment to achieving a thorough and sustainable recovery.

¡°Our focus is not limited to visibly affected areas. We are extending our efforts all the way to Lake Towuti to ensure that no impact goes unaddressed. We believe that a science?based approach, supported by accurate data, is essential to restoring public trust and safeguarding the environmental sustainability we share,¡± Endra said.

It is expected that this recovery process will not only restore environmental conditions, but also rebuild a comprehensive sense of safety and confidence within the community.

As of day 19, of the 220 registered grievances from six affected villages, 48% have been fully resolved. This data underscores PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk¡¯s continued commitment to ensuring that every reported concern is addressed in a responsible and transparent manner.
