From Community Bonds to Collaboration: PTVI and East Luwu Regional Leadership Reinforce Commitment to Accelerating Regional Development

Amid the evolving dynamics of regional development¡ªmarked by growing expectations for transparent, inclusive, and sustainable governance¡ªcollaboration between the private sector and local stakeholders has become increasingly critical. Responding to this context, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½), part of the state-owned MIND ID Group, together with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province, leveraged the post-Eid Halalbihalal gathering¡ªa traditional occasion for strengthening social ties¡ªas a strategic platform to deepen synergy and align respective roles.

This collaboration is not only essential for maintaining operational stability and effectiveness, but also serves as a shared foundation for accelerating competitive and sustainable regional development. The Halalbihalal event was attended by PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia¡¯s management and employees, East Luwu Regent Ir. H. Irwan Bachri Syam, members of the East Luwu Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), representatives of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and Armed Forces (TNI), the District Prosecutor¡¯s Office, the Religious Court of Malili, and other members of the Forkopimda in Sorowako on Friday (April 17, 2026).

On this occasion, Budiawansyah, Director and Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer of PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk, emphasized that the company¡¯s strong performance over 57 years of operation has been made possible by continuous support from government stakeholders and local communities.

Support from the Regent, DPRD, TNI, and Polri plays a vital role in ensuring that strategic projects are delivered on target. This synergy also creates a stronger enabling environment for long-term investments, which directly contribute to increased regional revenue and economic stability.

Budiawansyah noted that PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s presence is ultimately about building a shared future. The company¡¯s investments will continue to serve as a catalyst for East Luwu¡¯s transformation¡ªstrengthening regional income while empowering local communities.
During the same event, the Regent of East Luwu expressed his appreciation for the company¡¯s consistent efforts to maintain close engagement with both government and society.

Irwan Bachri Syam highlighted that for more than five decades, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has delivered significant and tangible benefits to regional development.

¡°Our region effectively holds a 2.5% stake in PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½. Every year, the dividends flow into regional revenue. That is why community aspirations should not always be expressed through protests. The government stands ready to mediate between community interests and PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s management,¡± he stated in his remarks.

The Regent also shared that, thanks to strong collaboration between the company, government, and local communities, the long-standing Old Camp land dispute in Sorowako was successfully resolved this year through a mutually beneficial agreement.

He closed his remarks by reaffirming the local government¡¯s full support for PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s future plans¡ªparticularly those focused on environmental stewardship and community empowerment across four priority areas: Sorowako, Wawondula, Wasuponda, and Malili.

Operational Resilience Driving Broader Regional Contribution
Despite ongoing global market challenges, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has demonstrated strong operational resilience, recording a net profit of US$76.1 million in 2025, representing a 32% increase year-on-year. This positive performance provides the company with strategic capacity to contribute more actively and be part of the solution in accelerating regional progress.

Among the initiatives undertaken are certified skills training programs aimed at strengthening the local workforce, ensuring that local talent becomes the primary driver of industrial operations, as well as the distribution of scholarships to more than 1,000 students.

Beyond contributing to increased Regional Own-Source Revenue (PAD), PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ also plays an active role in promoting inclusive economic empowerment by strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and enhancing the social and ecological resilience of communities surrounding its operational areas. These efforts are aligned with Indonesia¡¯s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 1824 K/30/MEM/2018, which governs community development and empowerment programs.

This approach reflects a strategic vision in which industrial growth advances in parallel with environmental restoration¡ªensuring that East Luwu¡¯s ecological heritage is preserved for future generations.

Through strengthened and harmonious relationships with local government and communities, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ remains confident in its ability to navigate future global challenges. This collaboration is not merely about sustaining current operations, but about building a long-term, inclusive, and environmentally responsible development legacy that delivers enduring value for the entire East Luwu community.
