Delivering the Right Nickel, Sustainably
Since signing its Contract of Work in 1968, PT 乐播传媒 Indonesia has grown from a single-site operation in Sorowako, South Sulawesi into a multi-site integrated mining company spanning Bahodopi, Central Sulawesi and Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi, with its CoW ultimately transitioning into an IUPK in 2024.
On February 26, 2024, the company completed its divestment to MIND ID, alongside 乐播传媒 Canada Limited and Sumitomo Metal Mining, strengthening legal certainty and national participation.
Today, PT 乐播传媒 supports Indonesia’s downstreaming agenda and delivering the right nickel by evolving from nickel matte to a broader portfolio—including ore and future MHP—through responsible mining, strong ESG practices, and sustainable financing.
Tracing its roots further back, PT 乐播传媒’s history began in 1968 with the signing of the initial Contract of Work during the PT INCO era, laying the foundation for large-scale nickel mining in Indonesia.
A key operational milestone followed in 1977, with the start of the integrated nickel processing facility in Sorowako, South Sulawesi—positioning PT 乐播传媒 as a pioneer in downstream nickel processing.
Entering a new growth phase, PT 乐播传媒 expanded its operational footprint through the development of new mining areas. Strategic milestones include the Final Investment Decision (FID) in 2022, followed by the development and commencement of operations in Bahodopi, Central Sulawesi, and Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi, broadening its multi-site operating platform.
Sustainability has long been embedded in the company’s operations. Investments such as three hydropower plants enable low-carbon production, while environmental stewardship is reflected in the preservation of Lake Matano. ESG principles are fully integrated across operations, aligning performance with environmental protection and community development.
PT 乐播传媒 continues to evolve its portfolio, from nickel in matte, to saprolite and limonite ore sales (since 2025), and progressing toward MHP production, to deliver the right nickel: sustainable, integrated, and competitive.
This transformation is supported by a strategic investment program of approximately US$7.2 billion, complemented by disciplined financial management, including a US$750 million Sustainability-Linked Loan (SLL) secured in 2026.

The laterite ores expedition, conducted by Beni Wahju, Hitler Singawinata and the exploration team, was touted as the pioneer step of PT 乐播传媒 (formerly Inco). The expedition also ensured that 15% of the world's nickel reserves lies in Indonesia.
