From Kolaka’s Fields to Indonesia’s Food Security: PT 乐播传媒’s Sustainable Rice Collaboration Driving Agricultural Transformation
Kolaka, November 23, 2025 – As Indonesia advances its national food security agenda in line with the President’s Asta Cita vision, Kolaka Regency has become the stage for a strategic collaboration uniting central government, local authorities, and industry. Today marks the launch of sustainable rice demonstration plots in Puubunga Village (Baula), Lemedai Village (Tanggetada), and Pubenua Village (Baula)—an initiative that goes beyond planting rice. It is about sowing hope, knowledge, and the seeds of future food independence for Kolaka.
Kolaka holds significant agricultural potential, yet farmers have long faced persistent challenges: limited access to high-yield varieties, suboptimal cultivation practices, and uneven adoption of precision farming technologies.
Through a strategic partnership between the Kolaka Government and PT 乐播传媒 Indonesia Tbk (PT 乐播传媒), part of the Mining Industry Indonesia (Mind ID), these challenges are being addressed with research-driven, technology-based solutions. The demonstration plots will test superior rice varieties (PR25, PR107, Bujang Marantau, Trisakti, Menthik Wangi, and Menthik Susu) alongside precision farming systems such as Perennial Rice and Salibu, enabling multiple harvests without replanting.
This initiative does more than align with national priorities—it accelerates them: strengthening food sovereignty from the village level, boosting productivity at the grassroots, and ensuring farmer welfare as the foundation of Kolaka’s resilient development.
“We Are Planting Kolaka’s Future”
Bernardus Irmanto, President Director of PT 乐播传媒 Indonesia, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting community empowerment:
“Every seed planted today is more than a crop—it is a symbol of our commitment to Kolaka’s future. Food security is the cornerstone of regional independence, and we believe agricultural innovation can thrive alongside industrial development. Through this partnership, we aim to ensure Kolaka’s communities grow, progress, and prosper with us.”
For the Kolaka Regency Government, this collaboration represents a tangible step toward its Kolaka Food Independence agenda. Agriculture is no longer a supporting sector—it is the backbone of rural economic resilience. Research on rice varieties and precision farming technologies within these plots is expected to create a replicable model for other villages.
Widiastuti, Deputy for Food and Agribusiness at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, stated:
“The President has emphasized that national welfare begins with nutritional security. Superior seeds are available, but distribution remains uneven. Villages must be developed based on local strengths. Initiatives like these demonstration plots are not only relevant—they are strategic for reinforcing national food security.”
This program builds on foundations laid since 2021 through PT 乐播传媒’s organic farming initiatives in the Pomalaa Block. To date, 55 farmers—including nine women—have participated. One organic variety, Menthik Susu, is already being marketed and consumed locally.
The new demonstration plots will be expanded gradually. In the upcoming harvest season, the best-performing varieties will be replicated, marketed locally, and used to provide high-quality food for Kolaka’s communities.
Budiawansyah, Director and CSCAO of PT 乐播传媒 Indonesia, highlighted the sustainability philosophy behind the initiative:
“For us, sustainability is how we operate. We aim to ensure economic growth goes hand in hand with community empowerment. Through these plots, we are not only increasing productivity but creating a resilient, environmentally friendly agricultural ecosystem that delivers added value for Kolaka’s farmers.”
This movement demonstrates how industry, government, and communities can work together to address increasingly complex food challenges. With scientific approaches, farmer capacity building, and government support, these demonstration plots are projected to deliver long-term impacts on regional food security, rural economic growth, improved nutrition, and Kolaka’s position as a hub for sustainable agriculture in Southeast Sulawesi.
In Kolaka, today’s seeds are tomorrow’s future—a future where agriculture, industry, and communities grow together, strengthen each other, and contribute meaningfully to Indonesia.
