As Part of Its Social Responsibility, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Opens Dialogue and Outreach with Local Communities

Towuti, 22 October 2025 ¡ª As part of its responsibility following the oil pipeline leak incident in Towuti, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½) continues to build effective and transparent communication with local communities and the East Luwu Regency Government.

PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, a subsidiary of Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND ID), is actively expanding dialogue platforms to ensure that the distribution of impact?mitigation compensation is carried out in a fair, orderly, and accountable manner.

To date, four villages in Towuti District¡ªLioka, Matompi, Langkea Raya, and Timampu¡ªhave received socialization sessions regarding the compensation disbursement mechanism. One additional village, Baruga, will be included following the finalization of the impact categorization framework, which PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is developing jointly with Forkopimda during October.

These community outreach activities follow the symbolic handover of compensation funds, which was witnessed by the Regent of East Luwu on 2 October 2025.

Transparent and Structured Compensation Process

Before compensation funds can be disbursed to affected residents, several stages must be completed, including:

  • Data identification,
  • Verification, and
  • Signing of payment agreements.

During the verification phase, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ works closely with village and sub?district authorities, as well as the Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Marine Affairs offices, to validate data and ensure accuracy.

Endra Kusuma, Director of External Relations at PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, stated that the company is committed to maintaining full transparency throughout the process and ensuring equal access to information for all affected residents.

¡°We understand the concerns expressed by the community and therefore continue to build transparent communication. While the data verification process is ongoing, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ remains open to dialogue and continues to provide grievance and information services,¡±
Endra said.

The compensation disbursement process is planned to continue through January 2026. Once data is verified, payments are processed without delay.

To further ensure compliance with procedures, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ continues to operate a Grievance and Information Post at the Towuti Sub?District Office during business days from 08:00 to 16:00 WITA, alongside a 24?hour hotline service.

Community Perspectives and Environmental Responsibility

Siska Lidan, a farmer from Timampu Village, expressed confidence in PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s responsibility regarding the impact on her rice fields. She is currently completing documentation related to land ownership, as the certificate for the affected farmland remains under the name of her late parent.

¡°The company has conducted socialization regarding the compensation process, and I also read online that PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has carried out a symbolic handover. I trust that the company will be accountable,¡±
Siska said.

In parallel, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ continues remediation efforts in areas affected by oil contamination. Academics and independent experts are actively involved in testing and analyzing water and soil quality across rice fields, fish ponds, and lake areas.

Endra emphasized that the company¡¯s responsibility extends beyond social considerations to include environmental stewardship as a core priority.

¡°Our responsibility is not limited to social aspects¡ªit also includes environmental protection. This commitment aligns with the principles of sustainable mining as stipulated in Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 26 of 2018,¡± he concluded.
