Our commitment in biodiversity
Our biodiversity management follows national regulations and global frameworks such as the Convention on Biological Diversity, IFC Performance Standard 6, ICMM guidance, and the IRMA Standard. We aim to achieve No Net Loss of biodiversity across operations, in line with the Kunming¨CMontreal Global Biodiversity Framework to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030 and support ecosystem recovery by 2050.
We included initiatives and commitment related to biodiversity in PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia's Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability Policy and Sustainability Policy.
Integrating Post-mining Reclamation, Rehabilitation, and Biodiversity Conservation
We conduct open-pit mining activities that have an impact on altering the natural landscape, thus affecting the ecosystem and biodiversity within it. The Company is committed to managing negative impacts by undertaking biodiversity conservation, progressive reclamation, and post-mining rehabilitation in accordance with applicable regulations and provisions.

We also committed to conserving protected and endangered species of fauna and flora. A joint study conducted with Hasanuddin University in 2020 identified 43 protected species listed on the IUCN Red List within the mining operation area of Sorowako Block. A list of protected species based on the IUCN red list can be found in appendix of our sustainability report.
We also collaborated with the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD) to compile the Guidelines for Sustainable Biodiversity Management. Released in 2018, it became the first document in Indonesia's mining sector focused on biodiversity conservation. The document is available for download on the .
Our biodiversity management focuses on species, habitats, and ecosystem impacts. In 2025, PTVI completed Critical Habitat Assessment (CHA) and Ecosystem Services Assessment (ESA) aligned with IFC PS6, IRMA, and ICMM to identify risks, ecosystem dependencies, and conservation priorities, supporting No Net Loss and Net Gain targets.
Results show parts of our areas qualify as critical habitat, including ecosystems such as the Malili Lake system and karst landscapes, with 56 trigger species identified (about 30+ in Sorowako, and 11 each in Morowali and Pomalaa). ESA also identified key ecosystem services valued by communities, including fisheries, forest products, erosion control, watershed protection, and cultural/ecotourism values.
The assessments involved stakeholder engagement in 55 villages, along with internal experts, strengthening understanding of biodiversity conditions and community dependence on natural resources.
