Supporting the ¡°Healthy, Clean, and Empowered Kolaka¡± Program, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Signs Strategic MoUs with Kolaka Regency Government and Huayou

Kolaka, October 8, 2025 ¡ª As a nickel mining company committed to sustainability and community empowerment, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½), a member of the MIND ID group, reaffirmed its dedication to regional development through the signing of two strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

The MoUs were signed in collaboration with the Kolaka Regency Government and Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd (Huayou), coinciding with the First Digging Ceremony of the Pomalaa Block ¡ª a significant milestone in the advancement of the Indonesia Growth Project (IGP) Pomalaa ¡ª on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

The first MoU pertains to the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiative titled ¡°Healthy, Clean, and Empowered Kolaka¡±, signed between PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and the Kolaka Regency Government. This collaborative program reflects PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s commitment to delivering sustainable benefits to communities surrounding its operational areas.

The ESG program focuses on three key pillars:

1. Healthy Kolaka ¡ª Enhancing public health services, improving maternal and child nutrition, and expanding access to sanitation and clean water;

2. Clean Kolaka ¡ª Implementing integrated waste management, tree planting initiatives, and educational campaigns promoting clean and green living;

3. Empowered Kolaka ¡ª Strengthening the local economy through MSME development, skills training, and empowering women and youth to become more independent and productive.

President Director of PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia, Bernardus Irmanto, emphasized that this program is not merely a social initiative, but a core principle guiding the company¡¯s commitment to responsible and sustainable operations.

¡°With a strong focus on environmental, social, and governance principles, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ actively addresses global and industry challenges by continuously developing sustainable innovations, ensuring our ESG dedication is consistently embedded across all aspects of our operations,¡± he stated.

Irmanto further explained that the company strives not only to fulfill its responsibilities in sustainable operations but also to maximize benefits for stakeholders and the broader community.

¡°We believe that economic growth and environmental sustainability must go hand in hand, with the community at the heart of every development step,¡± he added.

The second MoU concerns the Bridge Program, signed between PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd. This strategic partnership aims to develop the competencies and capabilities of the local workforce, particularly in the hydrometallurgy sector ¡ª a vital part of Indonesia¡¯s green nickel supply chain.

Through the Bridge Program, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and Huayou are committed to building a knowledge and skills bridge for the people of Kolaka, enabling them to compete at both national and global levels. The program will include technical training, managerial development, and internship opportunities, allowing local talent to directly contribute to the transformation of the nickel industry toward added value and clean energy.

¡°We are proud to present a transformative journey into sustainable nickel mining with a trusted partner, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½. We are also dedicated to upholding compliance standards in our operations in Pomalaa, shaping the future of responsible and sustainable mining practices,¡± said Mr. Wei Linkui, General Manager of Huayou Indonesia.

On the same occasion, Kolaka Regent Amri expressed his appreciation for PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and its partners¡¯ strategic efforts in placing the community as a central partner in regional development.

¡°This MoU is not just a cooperation document, but a tangible form of collaboration to improve the quality of life for the people of Kolaka. We welcome PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and its partners¡¯ consistent efforts in prioritizing synergy and sustainability in every program,¡± said Regent Amri.

These two MoUs strengthen the foundation of cross-sector collaboration between local government, industry, and communities to build an inclusive and sustainable development ecosystem.

For PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, ESG principles are not optional ¡ª they are a responsibility. Sustainability policies serve as the guiding compass toward a future where operations align harmoniously with both the environment and society.

With this spirit, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and its strategic partners are committed to delivering real transformation for Kolaka ¡ª a region with healthy communities, a clean environment, empowered local economies, and a competitive presence in the global nickel industry.

For context, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt, and Ford Motor Company are collaborating in the Pomalaa Block, Southeast Sulawesi, to process nickel ore into battery-grade materials for electric vehicles using High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) technology. PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ will supply the nickel ore, while Huayou will lead the processing operations at a facility operated by PT Kolaka Nikel Indonesia ¡ª a joint venture between PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, Huayou, and Ford Motor Company.
