If it is essential for people from Minas Gerais, it has to do with ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½.

Minas Gerais plays a vital role in the future of mining.

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ maintains a strong presence in the state through strategic investments, technological innovation, and ongoing dialogue with local communities. We continue to advance toward a safer, more sustainable, and people-centered approach to mining.

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is one of the key drivers of economic growth in Minas Gerais.

BRL 3 billion per year in salaries
63,000 direct and indirect jobs
BRL 440 million per year in mining royalties
BRL 67 billion in investments planned through 203

Our operations account for 3.5% of the state¡¯s GDP, with a strong emphasis on the production of high-quality iron ore, essential for the decarbonization of the steel industry.

Icon of a shield with a checkmark in the center.

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is transforming the way iron ore is produced in Minas Gerais, with a strong focus on safety, innovation, and sustainability.

  • Reduced reliance on tailings dams through new technologies
  • Expansion of dry processing methods
  • Modernization of five operational complexes
  • 24/7 geotechnical structure monitoring
  • We have adopted circular mining practices, reprocessing tailings and waste rock to generate iron ore. In 2025 alone, 9 million tonnes were produced from these sources, with the potential to reach 10% of total production by 2030.

We are also developing sustainable co-products, including:

Sustainable Sand: over 3 million tonnes sold

Block Factory in Itabirito: transforming tailings into materials for the construction industry
These initiatives reflect ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s commitment to responsible mining, environmental stewardship, and long-term value creation for communities and ecosystems.

Minas Gerais is home to 73,000 hectares of protected areas under ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s stewardship, including:

13 Private Natural Heritage Reserves (RPPNs) located in municipalities where ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ operates
41,000 hectares designated for environmental compensation and legal reserves

These areas are equivalent to twice the size of Belo Horizonte, reinforcing ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s commitment to biodiversity conservation and the responsible use of land and natural resources.

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ actively supports cultural development in Minas Gerais through investments that promote inclusive access to the arts. Since 2020, more than BRL 400 million have been allocated to initiatives such as Inhotim, Memorial Minas Gerais, Pal¨¢cio das Artes, the Philharmonic Orchestra, Grupo Corpo, and Grupo Galp?o.

BRL 370 million invested
335 cultural projects supported
Over 1 million people reached
45 municipalities served

These initiatives reflect ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s commitment to fostering cultural heritage, strengthening local identity, and promoting social inclusion through art and creativity.

Inclusion through sports?

We reaffirm our commitment to Itabira, the city where our company was born. To this end, we support the municipal administration, jointly building a plan for a more sustainable city. There are strategies in several areas: environment, education, innovation, security, among others. In the social area, we invest in initiatives that contribute to the city's development. We support sports projects for children and teenagers, such as the Little Seed of Sports Project, Judo classes, and the Bright Minds Chess Project. We also continue with our commitment to more sustainable mining, with the elimination of Dike 2 of the Pontal System, located at Cau¨º Mine, in Itabira. The initiative was anticipated, and will be concluded in 2023, one year ahead of schedule. The anticipation is the result of engineering advances in the preparatory works for the decharacterization of the structure.

Environment

Mata do Jambreiro Environmental Protection and Education Center

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ maintains an Environmental Protection and Education Center (CPEA) in the RPPN Mata do Jambreiro. This is the largest and most important protected green area in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte and is visited by an average of 12,800 people. It also has representatives from 198 institutions from 16 municipalities.
