PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Strengthens Community Education on Dengue Fever and Tuberculosis Prevention in Puulemo Village

Kolaka, February 15, 2026 ¡ª PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½), through the Indonesia Growth Project (IGP) Pomalaa, is intensifying its community outreach and environmental programs within its concession area. Most recently, the company organized a public health initiative focused on educating residents about the prevention of Dengue Fever (known locally as DBD) and Tuberculosis (TB).

The event took place at the Puulemo Village Hall in Baula Subdistrict, Kolaka Regency, on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

Residents gathered enthusiastically for the session. Beyond receiving information on the dangers and prevention of Dengue and TB, community members also took advantage of free health checkups provided by PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ IGP Pomalaa. Long queues formed as villagers waited to have their health conditions assessed.

Baula Subdistrict Head, Syahrial Darmawan, who officially opened the event, expressed appreciation for PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s consistent support of local health programs. He noted that initiatives like this play an important role in raising awareness about environmental cleanliness¡ªan essential factor in preventing vector-borne diseases such as Dengue.

¡°PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has conducted similar activities in several villages in Baula. These efforts greatly support our health sector. During the rainy season, the risk of Dengue increases significantly. With ongoing education, the community becomes more motivated to keep their environment clean and avoid disease,¡± he said.

Mokhammad Syifak, Health Educator for PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ IGP Pomalaa, explained that the company¡¯s health promotion efforts are part of an ongoing program conducted across its community development areas. In Puulemo Village, the focus was specifically on Dengue and TB prevention.

Several Dengue cases have been identified in Puulemo, while TB cases across Kolaka Regency have shown an upward trend, making targeted education essential.

¡°Through this activity, we hope residents better understand how to prevent and limit Dengue transmission. Likewise for TB¡ªpeople need to be aware of how it spreads and how to protect themselves. We believe disease control efforts should begin at the village level,¡± Syifak noted.

Puulemo Village Head, Nursiah, welcomed the initiative, stressing that Dengue and TB are often underestimated despite their serious health risks.

¡°This education is extremely valuable for our community. Even though some residents are familiar with prevention methods, repeated information helps strengthen awareness. I hope everyone applies today¡¯s lessons at home,¡± she stated.

Local resident Eli Narsa expressed appreciation for the program, emphasizing the importance of continually updating health knowledge.

¡°Even though I already practice Dengue prevention at home, I still came. For me, new information always means new insight,¡± she said.

The event reflects PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ IGP Pomalaa¡¯s commitment to improving the quality of life in its surrounding communities. Beyond its industrial operations, the company aims to foster collective awareness about public health as a cornerstone of sustainable local development.

Through continued collaboration between local government, the company, and community members, it is hoped that both Dengue and TB cases in Puulemo Village and throughout Kolaka Regency can be significantly reduced.
