PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and East Luwu Government Launch ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Nickel Corner to Promote Mining Literacy

 

Malili, September 13, 2025 ¡ª To expand access to thematic education and strengthen public understanding of responsible nickel mining, the East Luwu Regency Government and PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk inaugurated the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Nickel Corner at the East Luwu Regional Library in Malili. The initiative provides an inclusive and contextual learning space for students, educators, and the broader community.

As part of MIND ID, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ actively supports inclusive education transformation by integrating literacy, technology, and industry knowledge. The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Nickel Corner reflects the company¡¯s commitment to developing competitive human resources aligned with national development goals.

The inauguration was attended by East Luwu Regent Irwan Bachri Syam, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s Director of External Relations Endra Kusuma, East Luwu Police Chief Ario Putranto Tuhu Mangabdi, and Acting Head of the Library and Archives Office Askar, along with local government officials, literacy advocates, and media representatives.

Occupying a 70 m? space, the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Nickel Corner features a curated collection of books, photographs, audio-visual materials, educational posters, and samples of nickel ore, rocks, and processed products such as nickel matte and slag. These resources offer a comprehensive overview of responsible nickel mining and processing practices.

The initiative is part of the Social Inclusion-Based Library Transformation Program (TPBIS), which redefines libraries as spaces for contextual learning, skill development, and experience sharing. ¡°Libraries are evolving beyond book reading into hubs for community empowerment,¡± said Askar.

Endra Kusuma emphasized that the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Nickel Corner represents the company¡¯s openness to the public. ¡°We want the community, especially youth, to understand not only our production processes but also our environmental and social commitments,¡± he said.

Regent Irwan Bachri Syam welcomed the initiative and expressed hope for its continued development. ¡°PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has operated for over 50 years. It¡¯s time we have comprehensive literacy on nickel mining in Sorowako. This is a stepping stone toward our vision of establishing a Nickel World Museum as an educational and tourism icon for East Luwu,¡± he stated.

The launch included the signing of a cooperation agreement between PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and the East Luwu Library Office, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Nickel Corner.

This initiative aligns with President Prabowo Subianto¡¯s vision to enhance the quality of Indonesian human resources through education and vocational training tailored to industry needs. The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Nickel Corner exemplifies effective collaboration between business and local government in realizing this vision.
