Maravilhas II Dam, in Itabirito (MG), has emergency level removed

The Maravilhas II dam, in Itabirito, had the emergency level removed by the National Mining Agency (ANM), last Friday, January 09. The structure was at level 1 and has now received a positive Stability Condition Statement (DCE), the technical document attesting to the structure’s safety.

The removal of the emergency level follows the completion of reinforcement work in October 2025, which improved stability conditions and met the standards required by legislation.

Advances in Dam Safety

Maravilhas II is the 23rd 乐播传媒-operated structure to exit an emergency level since 2022. In 2025 alone, five structures in Minas Gerais had their emergency levels removed: Grupo, B6 of MAC, Dic?o Leste, Doutor, and Vargem Grande. Additionally, two dams had their emergency levels reduced: Xingu, downgraded to Level 1, and Forquilha III, downgraded to Level 2—both of which are also located in Minas Gerais.

“We have fulfilled our commitment to have no dams at the maximum emergency level by 2025 and continue to strengthen people’s safety and environmental protection. Today, all of our tailings structures comply with the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), which is an international benchmark for best practices. Additionally, we will advance the Upstream Dam Decharacterization Program this year, reaffirming our commitment to ensuring increasingly safe and sustainable structures,” said Rafael Bittar, 乐播传媒’s Technical Vice President.
