Reinforcing Green Commitment in Morowali Operations, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Marks Earth Day 2026 with Tree Planting and Energy Conservation Campaigns
Morowali, 22 April 2026 ¡ª Amid growing global challenges related to climate change and environmental degradation, the observance of Earth Day serves as an important reminder that safeguarding the planet requires concrete action from all stakeholders, including the industrial sector.
In response, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (¡°PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡±), part of MIND ID, through its Indonesia Growth Project (IGP) Morowali, reaffirmed its environmental commitment by conducting tree?planting activities and coastal clean?up actions at the Jetty Port Bahomotefe, Morowali.
The initiative involved employees and partner contractors, reflecting a spirit of collaboration in environmental stewardship while reinforcing a culture of sustainability across the Company¡¯s operational areas.
Protecting Coastal Ecosystems and Biodiversity
As part of the initiative, hundreds of trees were planted, including mangroves, kayu angin, tropical almond (ketapang), and coconut trees¡ªspecies with high ecological value and well?suited to coastal environments. Beyond strengthening coastlines and preventing abrasion, the planting programme supports biodiversity conservation and enhances environmental quality in the surrounding operational areas.
Mangroves, in particular, play a critical role as natural coastal barriers and as effective carbon sinks, contributing directly to climate change mitigation efforts.
The programme also included beach and port?area clean?up activities, during which waste with the potential to pollute marine ecosystems was collected and sorted as part of responsible environmental management practices.
Promoting Responsible Resource Use
Beyond on?site environmental actions, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s sustainability commitment is further demonstrated through internal water and energy conservation campaigns, consistently promoted among employees and contractors. These initiatives encourage simple yet impactful behavioural changes, such as:
- responsible water use,
- improved electricity efficiency in work areas, and
- reducing unnecessary energy consumption in daily operational activities.
These efforts form part of the Company¡¯s systematic approach to improving resource efficiency while reducing its environmental footprint.
Integrating Sustainability into Long?Term Strategy
Wafir, Head of Bahodopi Operations at PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, emphasized that these activities are embedded within the Company¡¯s long?term strategy to integrate sustainability principles across all business processes.
¡°Earth Day is a meaningful moment for us to reaffirm that environmental sustainability is not merely a commitment, but must be delivered through concrete and consistent action. Tree planting, coastal clean?ups, and water and energy conservation campaigns reflect our efforts to balance operational activities with environmental protection,¡± he stated.
He further highlighted the strategic importance of active participation from employees and contractors in building collective awareness.
¡°Sustainability cannot be achieved in isolation. Through the active engagement of all stakeholders, we aim to ensure that environmental responsibility becomes an integral part of our everyday work culture,¡± he added.
Aligned with ESG Principles
These initiatives are aligned with the Company¡¯s implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, which form a core foundation of PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia¡¯s corporate strategy. The Company continues to implement programmes aimed at minimizing environmental impacts, improving resource efficiency, and creating shared value for communities surrounding its operational areas.
The tree?planting and coastal clean?up activities at the IGP Morowali Jetty Port are expected to deliver long?term benefits, including healthier coastal ecosystems and a cleaner, safer working environment. More broadly, the initiative serves as a reminder that protecting the planet begins with consistent, practical actions.
A Commitment Beyond Earth Day
Through the momentum of Earth Day 2026, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to continuously advancing sustainability programmes, strengthening collaboration with stakeholders, and delivering responsible mining practices that are aligned with nature and generate positive impact for future generations.
