The oil pipeline leak incident in Lioka Village, Towuti District, East Luwu Regency, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, stands as a powerful reminder that the spirit of mutual cooperation is key to overcoming crises. From the very first moment, the government, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (¡°PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡±), and stakeholders worked hand in hand to ensure a swift, coordinated response focused on public safety and environmental recovery.

At 07:30 WITA, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ activated its emergency response protocol and deployed its Emergency Response Group (ERG) to the site. In coordination with the Towuti Sub-district Government, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Environmental Agency (DLH) of East Luwu, the police, and the military, a joint task force was formed and has since been working around the clock. Beyond the technical response, the solidarity of local residents has provided additional strength. In Malindowe Hamlet, local women opened their kitchens to cook meals for hundreds of field personnel, turning community spirit into a source of recovery energy.

Endra Kusuma, Head of External Relations at PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk, emphasized that cross-sector collaboration is the cornerstone of effective crisis management. ¡°We witnessed extraordinary strength when the government, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, and stakeholders came together as one team. From technical operations in the field to the heartfelt support of local women cooking for responders and volunteers¡ªthis is the true energy of recovery,¡± he said.

Endra further stated that PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is committed to ensuring a response that is swift, transparent, and accountable, with the ultimate goal of restoring both community well-being and environmental integrity.

To date, the joint task force has completed pipeline isolation and repair, installed slick bars and absorbent booms at critical points, conducted oil (MFO) extraction using mobile storage tanks, and initiated an inventory of affected areas to ensure a transparent recovery process. All actions are being monitored daily by the East Luwu Environmental Agency to uphold public accountability.

For PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, this incident reaffirms that sustainable business practices are inseparable from people and the environment. The collaboration between government, community, and company demonstrates that recovery is not merely a technical process, but a shared journey to protect life and nature in East Luwu.
