Uniting Regions, Shaping the Future: PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Strengthens Strategic Infrastructure in South Sulawesi for Inclusive, Climate-Resilient Growth

Malili, South Sulawesi, December 22, 2025 ¡ª Infrastructure development today is more than just physical connectivity; it is the foundation for equitable economic growth, regional resilience, and improved quality of life for communities. With this understanding, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk, part of the MIND ID Group, reaffirms its commitment to actively contribute to South Sulawesi¡¯s sustainable development agenda through the construction of the Matano Belt Road and initiatives to strengthen climate resilience against hydrometeorological risks.

Matano Belt Road: Connecting Communities, Unlocking Potential
The Matano Belt Road (MBR) is a strategic provincial road linking Malili, Nuha, and the border of Central Sulawesi¡ªa critical corridor that has long posed accessibility challenges for local communities and economic activities. This road is designed to enhance interregional connectivity, facilitate the flow of goods and services, and create new opportunities for more inclusive economic growth. It aligns with the South Sulawesi Provincial Government¡¯s vision to accelerate regional development based on connectivity, productivity, and sustainability.

Abu Ashar, Vice President Director and Chief Operation & Infrastructure Officer of PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia, emphasized that infrastructure goes far beyond its technical function¡ªit bridges potential and opportunity.

¡°When access opens, economies move, public services become closer, and communities gain fairer opportunities to grow. That is the essence of the Matano Belt Road: not just building a road, but building the future,¡± said Abu Ashar during the groundbreaking ceremony in Ussu.

The project adheres to strict safety and technical standards, ensuring traffic efficiency and user security. With reliable and sustainable infrastructure, this corridor is expected to become a backbone for developing economic hubs, regional logistics, and key sectors such as tourism around Lake Matano¡ªone of the world¡¯s deepest ancient lakes, rich in ecological and economic value.

Government and Community Support
South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman highlighted that the Matano Belt Road represents a tangible example of strategic collaboration between government and industry to accelerate regional development. He noted that the road will serve as both an alternative and a primary route, strengthening connectivity in East Luwu and surrounding areas while driving inclusive economic growth.

Similar appreciation came from East Luwu Deputy Regent Hj. Puspawati Husler, who stressed that improved connectivity from Ussu to Lake Matano¡¯s shores has long been awaited by local communities. The road is expected to unlock new economic centers, particularly in sustainable tourism, and reinforce East Luwu¡¯s role as a growth hub in eastern South Sulawesi.

Beyond Roads: Building Climate Resilience
PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s commitment to regional development extends beyond land connectivity. Recognizing the growing risks of climate change and hydrometeorological disasters, the company is also contributing to regional resilience through the normalization of the Baliase River in North Luwu Regency. Sediment dredging is being carried out to increase river flow capacity and reduce flood risks that have historically impacted community safety and livelihoods.

This project is carefully designed with hydraulic engineering principles, occupational safety, and sustainable environmental management. The approach ensures the river¡¯s natural drainage function remains intact while minimizing ecological impact. These efforts complement PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s previous flood mitigation initiatives, including the provision of thousands of jumbo bags for emergency response.
A Strategic Partner for Sustainable Growth

Through the Matano Belt Road and Baliase River normalization, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ underscores its role as a strategic partner to the government in building a South Sulawesi that is more connected, climate-resilient, and globally competitive. These infrastructures do more than link regions¡ªthey unite aspirations, create space for inclusive economic growth, protect the environment, and improve community well-being sustainably.

In a global landscape demanding low-carbon and equitable development, collaboration between government and business is key. With these initiatives, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ positions infrastructure development as an integral part of its long-term contribution to Indonesia¡ªbuilding today for a stronger, more sustainable tomorrow.
