PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Reaffirms Commitment to Halt the Leak, Restore the Environment, and Address Community Impacts

 
 

Towuti, August 25, 2025 ¨C On the third day of the oil pipeline leak incident in Towuti District, East Luwu, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½) reaffirmed its full commitment to respond swiftly, transparently, and responsibly. The source of the leak has been identified and contained, and technical teams continue to work around the clock to stop the spread of the oil flow as the company¡¯s top priority.

PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ President Director, Bernardus Irmanto, who was present on-site, emphasized that the company places the safety of the community and the restoration of the environment above all else.

¡°We understand how difficult this situation is for the people of Towuti. The prayers and support from all parties mean a great deal to us. Our immediate focus is to stop the spread of the oil flow, and we are working closely with local government and all stakeholders to ensure the response is carried out swiftly and effectively. With the spirit of cooperation, we believe we can overcome this challenge together,¡± he said.

PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ fully recognizes the community¡¯s right to be informed of ongoing response efforts. To ensure transparency, the company has set up regular information channels and an official complaint post, while also issuing daily reports in collaboration with the East Luwu Environmental Agency. PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ continues to coordinate closely with the East Luwu Regency Government, Towuti District authorities, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Environmental Agency (DLH), the police, the military, and other key stakeholders. The company has also welcomed inspections from the Mining Inspector and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry¡¯s Directorate General of Law Enforcement (Ditjen Gakkum KLHK), underscoring its commitment to accountability.

Alongside emergency response measures, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is prioritizing the needs of affected communities. The company has deployed logistical support and medical services, while also engaging local residents in recovery efforts to ensure both solidarity and shared economic benefit. An information and complaint center has been established at the Towuti Subdistrict Office to provide residents with direct access to assistance and updates.

Beyond halting the leak, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is fully committed to long-term accountability, including comprehensive environmental rehabilitation and mitigation of social impacts. Recovery efforts will be carried out in stages, encompassing ecosystem restoration in affected areas, socio-economic support for the community, and the evaluation and strengthening of pipeline safety systems to prevent recurrence. All recovery processes will be conducted in close coordination with the East Luwu Government and relevant stakeholders, guided by the principles of transparency and public accountability.
