BK3NP 2026 Sorowako Officially Concludes: PTVI Reaffirms Commitment to Safety, Health, and the Environment

Safety is more than a set of workplace rules¡ªit is every individual¡¯s hope to return home safely. This message was emphasized by Abu Ashar, Chief Operations & Infrastructure Officer of PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½), during his remarks at the closing ceremony of the 2026 National Mining Occupational Safety and Health Month (BK3NP) held at Iniaku Field, Sorowako, East Luwu, on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

¡°Arrive healthy, work with enthusiasm, and return home safely,¡± Abu stated.

He underscored that BK3NP is not merely an annual observance but a reminder for everyone to protect themselves, others, and the environment. A similar sentiment was conveyed by Febrin Sitorus, Head of HSOR Environment & Sustainability Operations, who highlighted the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in building a strong safety culture.

¡°This year¡¯s BK3NP was not only organized by PTVI but also involved the wider East Luwu community, including business partners and the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Family Association,¡± Febrin added.

The theme, ¡°Building a Professional, Reliable, and Collaborative National OHS Management Ecosystem,¡± reflects this collaborative spirit.

From January 12 to February 14, 2026, the program featured a series of activities. Unlike previous years that emphasized sports competitions, this year¡¯s events focused on safety, health, and environmental education in schools; volleyball matches; a safety dojo challenge; open-water activities; leadership reflection; thematic inspections; a fun walk; and nutrition and mental health campaigns.

K3L Education in Schools
This year¡¯s Safety, Occupational Health, and Environment (K3L) education targeted students across PTVI¡¯s community development areas, including schools in Wasuponda, Towuti, Sorowako, and Malili. Topics covered included safe driving, environmental protection, substance abuse prevention and anti-bullying, vocational education pathways, and even introductory aviation science.

Sports and Safety Competitions
A lively volleyball tournament was part of the celebration, along with the Safety Dojo Challenge, an interactive simulation facility designed to mimic workplace scenarios, hazard controls, and emergency response. Participants completed simulations such as conveyor belt repairs, electrical panel maintenance, scaffolding material handling, and lamp replacement. Teams were assessed on knowledge, skills, behavior, teamwork, and the effectiveness of their safety messaging.

Open Water Exhibition
Forty?eight participants¡ªincluding employees, contractors, and family members¡ªjoined an open?water swimming exhibition across Lake Matano (Nuha¨CSorowako), symbolizing unity and the promotion of physical wellness. The event received support from local government, law enforcement, and the Natural Resources Conservation Agency.

¡°Let¡¯s keep Sorowako clean and healthy¡ªas a mining town and a tourism destination¡ªbecause Sorowako is all of us,¡± said Hendry U. Iskandar Ekazandri, Manager Risk & Prevention.

Leadership Reflection and Thematic Inspection
Leaders conducted reflections on incidents from the past three months to extract lessons learned. Thematic inspections focused on the company¡¯s high?risk activities and involved both PTVI leaders and contractors throughout the OHS Month.

Health Campaigns
Mental health and nutrition were also spotlighted. Psychologist Rahmat Permadi, M.Psi. emphasized, ¡°Mental health cannot be separated from physical well?being. When one aspect suffers, all are affected.¡± Nutrition expert Indra Jaya SST AIFO provided practical guidance on balanced diets and healthy eating patterns.

Linked with National Waste Awareness Day
The BK3NP closing ceremony coincided with National Waste Awareness Day (HPSN) on February 21, reinforcing that environmental cleanliness is essential to OHS. Participants joined a Fun Walk while collecting and sorting waste across four areas: VDM, Old Sorowako, Sorowako Airport, and Krakatau Road. Within an hour, they collected two tons of waste.

¡°This volume is a reminder of the importance of environmental awareness as a foundation of safety and health,¡± said Febrin.
Participants expressed enthusiasm. Wahyuni Pratiwi from PTVI¡¯s Human Capital Department noted that this year¡¯s event was especially meaningful: ¡°Thank you for teaching the community proper waste sorting for a better future.¡±

Collected waste was weighed and assessed, and recognition was given to participants for their environmental contributions.
While BK3NP lasted only a month, the message continues.

¡°We hope today¡¯s activities become part of everyday life, supporting environmental sustainability. This reflects PTVI¡¯s CARES values, especially Compassion and Sustainability,¡± Abu concluded.
