Clean Water Assistance: PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s Swift Response for Lioka & Timampu Residents

Towuti, August 31, 2025 ¨C In the wake of the oil pipeline leak in Towuti District, East Luwu, residents of Molindowe Hamlet in Lioka Village and Timampu Village faced a clean water crisis. Four households in the upstream area and fifteen families in Timampu were the first to report difficulties in accessing potable water for daily needs.

In response, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½) acted swiftly. Emergency teams mobilized to deliver clean water, install tanks and reservoirs, and set up hose networks to ensure residents had access to safe water.

For the past several days, clean water has been distributed regularly via water trucks. Every two days, residents receive supplies for drinking, cooking, and other daily activities. This assistance will continue until laboratory sampling confirms that water quality in the affected areas is safe for consumption.

Endra Kusuma, Head of External Relations at PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, emphasized:

¡°We understand how vital clean water is for the community. That¡¯s why, upon receiving the report, our team immediately responded with practical solutions. This is not just a technical intervention¡ªit¡¯s a reflection of our care and commitment to the people.¡±

The story of Molindowe and Timampu began with direct reports submitted through PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s grievance mechanism. By Day 9, a total of 130 formal grievances had been received via the Towuti Subdistrict Complaint & Information Post and the 24-hour hotline. Of these, 44% have been fully resolved, 48% are in progress, and 8% are under verification.

These figures highlight that every grievance is not only recorded but also serves as a compass for the company¡¯s recovery strategy. The clean water assistance for Molindowe and Timampu residents is a tangible example of how community voices are directly translated into action on the ground.

Syamsul Rusdang, Head of Timampu Village, expressed appreciation:

¡°PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s clean water assistance means a lot to our residents. We hope this collaboration continues until full recovery is achieved. We also encourage the community to actively report concerns through the Post so that all grievances can be updated and addressed.¡±

In another statement, Abdul Rahman, Chair of Timampu¡¯s Village Consultative Body (BPD), added:

¡°We value PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s direct engagement with our community. There were initial delays in communication and outreach, but these have been promptly addressed through improved field coordination. We hope this approach continues moving forward.¡±

Clean water assistance is just one step. As broader recovery efforts unfold¡ªled by government, community stakeholders, and independent experts¡ªPT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ remains committed to mitigating impacts and restoring environmental and social conditions progressively, with transparency as the foundation.
