IGP Sorowako Limonite

IGP Sorowako Limonite (IGP Sorlim) is a strategic project aimed at processing previously underutilized limonite ore into high-value minerals through the application of High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) technology, in collaboration with consortium partners. Beyond its production objectives, the project also reflects the company¡¯s commitment to supporting the global transition toward clean energy.

The commitment to develop the IGP Sorlim project was formally established with the signing on August 25, 2023, in Jakarta, marking a significant milestone in the company¡¯s dedication to advancing sustainable energy development.

With a total investment of US$1.9 billion, the project is expected to serve as a critical foundation for the electric vehicle (EV) battery supply chain, while reinforcing Indonesia¡¯s position within the global sustainable energy ecosystem.

Sorowako Limonite Ore Project focuses on the extraction of limonite ore from the overburden layer within the Company¡¯s ongoing saprolite mining operations. This limonite ore will be processed at an average rate of approximately 11.5 million wet metric tons per year, with a nickel grade of ¡Ý1.10%, and subsequently supplied to a High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) processing plant.

The project consortium targets an annual production of 60,000 tons of nickel in the form of Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP). The HPAL facility will be developed within the East Luwu Industrial Area and will be supported by a Feed Preparation Plant (FPP) as well as other supporting infrastructure located within PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ mining area.

The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. It currently employs 963 personnel. Mining operations are supported by the MRAL Laboratory, which plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, reliable, and timely mineral analysis.

Environment

Sustainability is at the core of all our operations. Activities are conducted in accordance with Good Mining Practices (GMP), ensuring responsible and efficient resource management. In collaboration with PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia¡¯s Social Development Program (SDP), we implement a range of environmental initiatives, including integrated waste management at the Baruga Waste Management Facility, coral transplantation efforts on Bulupoloe Island, mangrove rehabilitation in Pasi-Pasi, and the use of composting machines to process organic waste.

Community Empowerment

We are committed to supporting the well-being of surrounding communities. Through PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s Social Development Program (SDP), we work collaboratively to strengthen local livelihoods, including initiatives to support pineapple farmers in Wasuponda¡ªenhancing production capacity while contributing to local economic growth. In addition, we contribute to rural infrastructure development through road improvement projects in the area, utilizing slag as a sustainable construction material.

Governance and Talent Development

We uphold strict compliance with applicable regulations while respecting human rights across all operations. Recruitment for the IGP Sorlim project is guided by the principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). During the construction phase, the project engages local contractors, with 90% of the workforce sourced from East Luwu. We also provide supporting facilities to foster workforce development, enhance capabilities, and cultivate top talent.
