Reinforcing Its Role as a Pioneer in Community-Based Sustainable Development, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Wins Community Empowerment Award at ESG Appreciation 2025

Jakarta, November 20, 2025 ¡ª As part of MIND ID and a strategic partner of the Indonesian government in advancing downstream development and sustainability within the energy and mineral resources sector, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk (¡°PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡± or ¡°the Company¡±) reaffirms its commitment to inclusive, long-term social development. The Company has officially received the Community Empowerment Award at the ESG Appreciation 2025 event organized by B-Universe in Jakarta.

This award recognizes PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s consistency and success in delivering measurable, innovative community empowerment programs that create tangible impacts across its operational areas¡ªSorowako in East Luwu and Kolaka in Southeast Sulawesi.

The award was accepted by Vinicius Mendes Ferreira, Executive Advisor of PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Indonesia Tbk, on behalf of the Company. In his remarks, Vinicius stated: ¡°Community empowerment is the essence of sustainability itself. For us, every program must open opportunities, strengthen capacities, and deliver long-term progress for the communities surrounding our operations.¡±

Recognizing Community-Based Development Models in Mining
The award highlights PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s flagship programs that have become benchmarks for community-driven social development in the mining sector. Three standout initiatives include Matano Iniaku, Kolaka Sehat, Bersih, Berdaya, and PPM SDGs Desa.

¡°Matano Iniaku¡± ¡ª Transforming a Remote Hamlet into a Resilient Community
Located in Dusun Matano on the shores of Lake Matano, East Luwu, the Matano Iniaku program was born from a participatory approach and community dialogue. Previously, this isolated hamlet was only accessible by raft, lacked healthcare facilities, and had no clean water network.

Through this program, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has delivered:

  • A piped clean water system directly to households.
  • Rehabilitation of 200 hectares of watershed, increasing Laa Waa River flow and reducing emissions by 22,538 tons CO?eq.
  • A speedboat ambulance, telecommunications network, and improved basic infrastructure.
  • Formation of four local institutions (tourism group, farmers¡¯ group, women¡¯s group, and disaster response team) to ensure social sustainability.

The program achieved a Social Return on Investment (SROI) of 1:1.08 and was recognized as the best Community Development Program nationally through the Subroto Award 2025.

¡°Kolaka Sehat, Bersih, Berdaya¡± ¡ª Building Empowerment Foundations in Pomalaa Block
In Southeast Sulawesi, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ launched Kolaka Sehat, Bersih, Berdaya, a community development framework aligned with the industrial development of the Pomalaa Block in partnership with Huayou.

The program focuses on three pillars:

  • Kolaka Sehat ¡ª improving healthcare, nutrition, and clean water access.
  • Kolaka Bersih ¡ª integrated waste management and environmental restoration.
  • Kolaka Berdaya ¡ª strengthening MSMEs, empowering women, youth vocational training, and household economic growth.

To prepare a skilled local workforce, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and Huayou also introduced the Bridge Program, equipping Kolaka¡¯s youth with competencies in hydrometallurgy and electric vehicle battery industries.

PPM SDGs Desa ¡ª Strengthening Independence in 38 Villages Around Operations
Since 2023, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has implemented the Community Development Program Supporting Village SDGs, covering 38 villages across four districts near Sorowako: Malili, Wasuponda, Nuha, and Towuti.

The program supports:

  • Local economic growth through MSMEs and cooperatives.
  • Improved basic services such as clean water, irrigation, healthcare, and education.
  • Community-driven infrastructure development.
  • Youth capacity building through vocational training and financial literacy.

A participatory approach¡ªwhere communities act as primary planners, the company as technical facilitator, and government as governance steward¡ªhas been key to success. Early impacts include improved public services and accelerated village-level economic growth.

Commitment to an Inclusive Future
These achievements reflect PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½¡¯s shared value philosophy: sustainability is not merely about compliance but about delivering real benefits to communities.

Vinicius Mendes Ferreira emphasized: ¡°Sustainability does not end with compliance. It must manifest as tangible change, open opportunities, and a future that grows together with communities.¡±

By receiving the Community Empowerment Award at ESG Appreciation 2025, PT ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ continues its role as a pioneer in social development within the mining sector¡ªfostering resilient, inclusive, and empowered communities from South to Southeast Sulawesi.
